Week of January 30-February 3
Wednesday Night: Purchase/designate a 3-ring binder for ONLY World History II Honors, cover your book and make sure you bring a writing utensil with you tomorrow. These three elements will be checked at random throughout the semester. Be sure to have finished the vocab worksheet, the Science, Religion and the Path to Enlightenment worksheet and the reading before class on Thursday.
Thursday Night: Begin reading (ore reread) the Enlightenment packet. There will be a quiz on the first 7 pages, 366-373 on Friday. Stop reading at "The Later Enlightenment." Taking notes would be to your benefit! Also, do the following:
1. Summarize their beliefs and accomplishments.
2. Identify and explain the rationale behind their ideal form of government.
3. Explain their thoughts on human nature.
4. List the major works they wrote.

Using your textbook on page 150 and one outside source, fill in the "Life size" Biography for Frederick the Great, Catherine the Great, Joseph II. For each Enlightened Despot, write: 1. Their name, 2. Where they ruled, 3. What they thought / major ideas (in their head), 4. What they did (in their body...get it..."body of work"), 5. Their legacy in history (how/why they are best known) (write this in their leg...get it...legacy?) Be sure to do all three people. Also, use and CITE on the bottom, one outside source other than your text book. Use "Chicago" Manuel style to cite the source. Use www.citationmachine.net to help you do this. Click on "Chicago" on the left. Click on the type of source you are using (book, journal, magazine, webpage etc...). Enter the information then generate the citation.

Monday Night: Write a one page journal entry AS YOUR CHARACTER from today's class! In your journal entry, you need to write down everything that happened today (but be historical about it...don't write down: "I drew stupid wheat icons on some paper and cut them out"...write, "I worked tirelessly in the wheat fields all day today"...it was hot...it was cold...the Noble did nothing...blah blah blah...you get it. Please write or type it out. It's due Tuesday.
Tuesday Night: Read the first section of the packet. Read from the beginning to "Destruction of the Old Regime" on pg 416. Also write a journal entry for day 2 and 3 of the role play if you haven't already. There will be a quiz on Wednesday. The journals are also due on Wednesday.
Wednesday Night: Read the second section of the packet. Read from 416-423 stop at "The Age of Napoleon". There will be a quiz on Thursday.

This is a great website that will help you understand the complex issues which dominated the interwar period...check out this site. As you access this site, select different pages on the left then hit "summary". Then, access this website about the global depression. Finally, access this website that simplifies stocks and other economic concepts. ASSIGNMENT: After you have read each of the websites, rewrite the five most important facts you found on the first website, the five most important facts you found on the second website and the 10 most important facts you found on the third website. In total, you should have 20 sentences written down. Be prepared to share your sentences with the rest of the class. PLEASE don't just write random sentences down...read, think, write. ALSO: Print the Schindler's List permission slip and have it signed by a parent or guardian. The permission slip is found at the top of this page...it's one of the four files.

Monday: You have chosen your character, now begin to know everything about him! Tonight, record a list of 10 facts about your character that you think everyone in the class should know. Also, record the pre-war goals for your nation. Bring them in tomorrow.
Tuesday: Continue to work on your PowerPoint and your character research. Think about two things: what do you need to dress up like the character (and start assembling the items) and what do you want to bring in for your food item (we'll need toasters, utensils, napkins too!) . We'll make a list tomorrow in class. Though it seems as if you have a lot of time to prepare, you really don't. Friday will be here before you know it! Also, if you're absent on Friday, you'll have to 'perform' in character, in costume for me after school on Monday! Don't be absent on Friday!
Wednesday: Complete your PowerPoint and email it to me. Please write the skill number and the names of the people in your group in the subject field. I must have the presentations emailed to me by 7am on Thursday so I can upload them for class. You'll have to complete the scavenger hunt in class and at home! Also, continue to work on your character research!

Your letter should articulate a specific strategy for Japan...leave nothing to the imagination. Your letter should be a minimum of 2 pages typed. If you hand-write, 3 pages. Monday: Answer this question: How did the Depression in Italy and Germany lead to the rise of dictatorships. Detail for each nation: Specific hardships faced by each nation during the depression. Explain the social, economic and political factors that enabled Benito Mussolini and Adolph Hitler to rise to power.
Tuesday: Research your historical character.
Over the long weekend: Continue to research your historical character! Start preparing your clothes and party contribution.

Tuesday: **UNDERSTANDING that Russia pulled out of the war in 1917 and the United States entered the war in 1917 (though they didn't arrive until 1918), read page 551 from "The Last Year of the War" to the end. There will be a quiz tomorrow
Wednesday: Research the Treaty of Versailles using any resources you have. Make a list of the 10 most harsh articles you can find. By harsh, I mean devastating to Germany or any other country that was punished. Once you make your list of the 10 most harsh articles, explain how each negatively affected Germany (or the punished nation). Choose three of the 10 articles and briefly explain how each lead to World War II. (List of 10 articles, explain the effects of all 10, choose 3 to explain how they lead to WWII).
Thursday: Finish any work that was not completed today (weapons or vocab worksheet). Access all of Wilson's Fourteen Points online. Simply restate all fourteen points in your own words.

Wednesday: Access the link here. Read the article on The Russian Revolution of 1905. Take notes in the margin of your RR note packet that may not have been in the PP. Then access the link here. Read the article on the RR of 1917. Take notes in the margin of your RR note packet that may not have been in the PP. Finally, choose any two of the five videos on the top of the page and briefly summarize both. Be prepared to summarize the videos you chose in class.
Thursday: Skill four has to do with the Global Depression during the interwar period. 1. Find an online source that does a good job summarizing the depression and print it out (don't print more than 3 pages of the resource). Also, summarize the resource. Print the Schindler's List permission slip.
Over the weekend: This is a great website that will help you understand the complex issues which dominated the interwar period...check out this site. As you access this site, select different pages on the left then hit "summary". Then, access this website about the global depression. Finally, access this website that simplifies stocks and other economic concepts. ASSIGNMENT: After you have read each of the websites, rewrite the five most important facts you found on the first website, the five most important facts you found on the second website and the 10 most important facts you found on the third website. In total, you should have 20 sentences written down. Be prepared to share your sentences with the rest of the class. PLEASE don't just write random sentences down...read, think, write.Monday: Study for your exam on the Rise of Dictators and Russian Revolution. Test tomorrow!
